Service Description
Birth preparation is often understood as creating a plan for your ideal birth, learning how to manage the sensations of labour, exploring comfort measures, and preparing practically for the arrival of your baby. While these elements are important, true birth preparation goes much deeper. In these sessions, we create space to gently explore how your unique patterns, behaviours, and past experiences may arise during labour and birth. For example, you may notice have difficulty holding boundaries, or a fear of speaking up. All of which can influence how you move through your pregnancy, labour and birth. We also explore the different paths birth may take. This includes creating a safe and supported environment to acknowledge and feel into the “what if” scenarios. Such as interventions like an episiotomy or an emergency caesarean section. Rather than creating fear, this process supports you to become aware of your body’s responses, so these possibilities feel less activating and traumatic if they arise. By safely exploring these sensations ahead of time, you build the capacity to remain present, connected, and grounded within your body, even if your birth unfolds differently than expected. The intention of birth preparation is not to control the outcome of your birth, but to cultivate adaptability, self-trust, and a deep sense of safety within yourself. As a Registered Midwife and Reconnected Birthing Practitioner, I hold you in a space that is both clinically informed and deeply attuned, supporting you to meet your birth with awareness, confidence, and inner resourcefulness.
